Dallas
– September 15th, 2004: TG announced today
that it will be presenting at and sponsoring the Sourcing
Interest Group (SIG), Sourcing Leadership 2004 semi-annual
conference in Huntington Beach, CA. during October 12-15th.
Sourcing Leadership
2004 uniquely combines strategic sourcing, outsourcing,
and outsourcing risk management and governance. During this
four-day event an elite group of senior corporate executives
and top sourcing advisors will merge to discuss and share
strategic and innovative sourcing issues.
Guy Cowan CFO,
Shell U.S. and Ben Trowbridge, Managing Partner of the Trowbridge
Group will present “Lessons learned from the Global
Sourcing Decision – Sourcing Insight from a Global
Executive” on Thursday October 14th. Guy Cowan will
lead the presentation and discuss the critical factors to
constantly evaluate when considering global sourcing combinations.
A key decision is whether to drive improvements internally
using captive shared services or outsource to a third party
provider. The answer may well differ depending on the nature
of the function; either Finance and Accounting or IT may
require a separate sourcing strategy. However the lesson
is clear complex global corporate structures can leverage
cost-effective locations in order to provide high performance
internal back office services such as finance and accounting,
human resources and information technology. Guy Cowan states
“CFO’s and business leaders are inevitably faced
with having to make difficult decisions on sourcing. While
there is no right answer and different companies will have
different approaches, my experience suggests there are key
guidelines which can help management choose the right sourcing
decision”.
Ben Trowbridge
will conclude the presentation by defining the scope and
configuration factors that are used to build a strategic
business case, which include realistic cost reduction expectations
based on supplier sophistication as well as client and provider
goals that are imperative to a truly aligned and successful
sourcing relationship. Ben Trowbridge, states, “Outsourcing
as we have known it, will radically change in 2005. These
lessons learned are the foundation to finding tomorrows
solution to today’s problem, which will in turn yield
true competitive advantage. The global solution that takes
advantage of overwhelming market forces will provide a lasting
strategy that will stand the test of business change. We
are pleased to support SIG and the leadership team that
is searching for the right solution.”
