Aaron Trowbridge
Group Leader
Aaron completed his PhD in chemistry from the University of Cambridge in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Matthew Gaunt developing new strategies for the selective Pd-catalyzed β-C–H activation of aliphatic amines and methodology for the multicomponent synthesis of tertiary aliphatic amines via the photocatalytic reduction of alkyl iminium ions.
He then moved to Princeton University as a postdoctoral researcher working in the laboratory of Professor David MacMillan where he developed a platform for intracellular small-molecule target ID (μMap) based upon visible-light-mediated photocatalysis in collaboration with Merck (Cambridge, MA; Kenilworth, NJ).
In 2021, Aaron returned to Cambridge as a Marie-Curie Fellow investigating the multicomponent synthesis of chiral amines using photoredox catalysis.
Currently, Aaron is a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the University of Manchester.
